When you have POWER

"A prince never lacks legitimate reasons to break his promise."

Me: Are you coming tomorrow for my piano recitals?
You: Yes, sure. Be there sharp. Promise.
Me: Okay, tata for now! :)

The next day..............(phone rings)
You: Hey are you up? I'm sorry to break this to you but I cannot go.
Me: WHAT??!! How come?
You: My mom asked me to stay in for a while because we will be having respectable guests this evening. I'm really sorry.
Me: You promised?
You: I know, but I have no choice. Sorry

YOU are the prince, and ME, I'm just a nobody.

In this conversation, as you can imagine, if you have other things to attend to, there's no way a promise can be intact. Once you've made a decision, that's it. For someone as royal as a prince, this trick should not be hard at all. Generating power means to have a prevailing pronouncement above anything. Promises are not guarantees - it is just a simple word which can be broken even by the highest official.

Does this mean we cannot trust our leaders? At some point, yes. Having so much power in their hands, a hasty "NO" can be said in a blink of an eye. Sad to say, a mad of word is not trendy nowadays. From simple piano recitals to extravagant gathering in a palace, it is very easy to refuse so long as you have POWER over the others, so long as you CONTROL your decisions.

Eating with style

"Benefits should be conferred gradually; and in that way they will taste better."

In eating a meal, do you rush in consuming its tasty flavours? Hmm, you shouldn't be. That can lead you to either: (1) Obesity or (2) Inability to enjoy. For the first, eating fast results to food intake which makes it go down to your belly tremendously swift. The second outcom, the one I find more interesting, pertains to a person not having the luxury of tasting the juices in an unspecified time. Setting no limits you can experiment on how to eat the food or which on to gobble first. It may sound corny but all of us have the uniqueness in terms of eating habits.

The faster you consume, the lesser you appreciate the object. The slower you do, other factors come into being such as the creaminiess of the yogurt, the ripeness of a mango, the sweet and sour cuisine, and many others. In this way, you become more aware of the beauty behind food, preparations, and cooking. By thinking of all this together, you get to enjoy and see things more appealing. It doesn not mean that you do this all the time even if you are very much busy with work or school. What I stress on in this matter is the importance of taking a breath, stopping for a while, and consuming the benefits out of something in a manner wherein you're not pressured with time.

Conditioning oneself

"Before all else, be armed."

Putting everything at place, one should learn to be armed at all times. Even if it seems like nothing unlikely may happen, those insticts cannot disrupt the cycle of life. As a matter of fact, no matter how smooth the wind blows, it is not an assurance of peace and order. A stormy weather may still come, even at the most unexpected time.

For the sake of security and safety, learn to take over of the situation by being able to predict. Prediction means not being sure but at least, you've considered foreseeing what the future may bring. In a class for example, it is better to have read the readings even though the professor did not require you to because by doing such, you already brought yourself into a great advantage. Unlike your classmates who might be surprised with what the teacher speaks of, you have "foreseen" what is supposed to be happening. In this respect, you are armed with knowledge, and therefore, POWER.

There are many orientations present on earth that this may well be applied. What is important is that these events do not become as threatening as feared by starting with your own self. The idea is to be alert, packed with everything you can make use of. For in the end, you won't find yourself asking - "why did I fail?", or "why has it knocked me this hard?".

Strike hardest

"If an inquiry has to be done to a man it should be so sever that his vengence need not be feared."

This is very much applicable in wary. If you'll damage a country's threshold, better do it at your best because if not, you may lose in the end. During the times of the world wars, we have seen countries be defeated or be at the top of everything else.

For instance, if Country A has the advantage of being the first to hit with nuclear weapons, the opponent may be weakened that moment but surely it will transform into something stronger. You see, having to suffer enough may lead to perfection on how to deal with events, in this case - war. In the event Country B survived the first hit, it can penetrate its society and be armed for the next explosion.

So, word of advice for the countries who wished to be on top, they should be the first and at the same time, be sure that vengeance would never be an option for the weaker one. In moments of glory, there comes an end if the machineries used are not strong enough. Better be safe and sure than just hit and hit.

Security in fear

"The answer is, of course, that it would be best to be both loved and feared. But since the two rarely come together, anyone compelled to choose will find greater security in being feared than in being loved."

If you were to choose between being loved or feared, what would it be? This question has been common among democratic and authoritarian countries. It may not be seen instantly but it's embedded into society. Being loved means being free. Being feared means having dominant power over another person.

Silly as it may sound but the latter might hold rationality. If you're feared, you most likely are less to be hurt because people see you as invincible. On the other hand, others may love you but nothing might be certain and permanent. Love, as we know it, transforms in may forms. It is also measurable by some. In other instances, the one who you think loved you the most might be also the one who can hurt and break you.

But, is that set-up fulfilling? Will it be ALWAYS justifiable? And will it give you infinite happiness? A leader or a prince, as Machiavelli situate it, may be at the upper hand if he is feared. But isn't it in authoritarian countries, those who were feared were the ones who were hated? And people will always have the urge to revolt and overthrow the leader once they realized they can do so? Being feared may give guarantees but they are pointed to a direction not enjoyable by men.

Oops, but the argument a while ago was - being loved is not permanent since love might transform into something else. Therefore, in answering the question posted earlier, it is better to think of what will make a person happy - having guarantees or being immersed in a risky condition? Being feared or being loved?

Worthless letters

"And that Prince who bases his power entirely on... words, finding himself completely without other preparations, comes to ruin;"

As we always hear from others - words must be backed up by actions. If I may give a typical situation, a student who depends on just words may not be able to finish what he started. Sure saying things are powerful, but it remains useless if not put into reality. Like a prince who depends on marvelous plans, it must be made to be executed. There shall also stand other possibilities and alternatives.

It must be guaranteed that once the plan has been made, there will be further adjustments because nothing may be permanent. We will know the strongest team if we knew its leader with feasible plans. Same as the power to integrate ideas having push factors such as materials needed, cooperation between individuals and unity.

I say that in reality, we cannot be boxed into pure words, for the thoughts we came to know should be visible in practice, or supported by other forces. When the time comes and we have to be prepared for a banquet, a calamity, a game or a decision, we need all the resources we can get.

Battle of Man and Beast

"You must, therefore know that there are two means of fighting: one according to the laws, the other with force; the first way is proper to man, the second to beasts; but because the first, in many cases, is not sufficient, it becomes necessary to have recourse to the second."

Power is viewed in many angles with different lenses. One, it might be seen as the ablility to make a person do something he'd rather not do. Second, it can be in terms of personal capabilities such as material and non-material. Third, it could pertain to written laws for with it comes the principal rights and protection of every individual.

In reviewing the quoted lines from Niccolo Machiavelli, the first and the latter ones should be taken into further understanding. Having power means having greatness over the other. And if the only way to achieve power is in a form of a battle - one can use the natural laws down to the constitutional rights OR simply, force. We see mankind as rational and orderly so it is already pinned that we have the laws to be protected. However, as Machiavelli puts it, we may need force in order to achieve the goal we want. In this repsect, we turned to be beasts - equipped with fangs and spears to hurt, at the same time, gain from each other's weakness.

A question might pop up - isn't it laws were made to refrain mankind from violent acts? Why then, does this have to be a cycle again? When I read the quotation, it seems futile. Not because it isn't true but because it is. In fighting, we already have the written dictum, but it still is never enough. If that is so, why create an endless set of rules for us to follow? If from the start, they are not enough? Whether you like or not, force becomes more powerful than ordered laws. This might be a quirk of fate.

Ninoy Aquino

Being a Filipino is having an identity. Since I'm just nearly 21 years of age, the legal age in the U.S., I cannot brag about affecting the world I live in now, especially my country. If I have an idol to look up to, it would be Ninoy aquino who bravely died for the Filipinos. I don't say that I wish to be exactly like him because there's only one Ninoy. But we can have many little Ninoys to uplift the condition here in the Philippines.

Like what he has fighted for, I'll be here to continue his battle. In my own little ways, I know I can make a change. Through my simple collections of pictures, I hope that someday it will touch other people's heart and together commemorate the value of the action of Aquino.

There might be so much negativity now in the politics of the country, but I believe that there are many Ninoys inside us all waiting for the right time to stand up for others

Power play in Politics

The most powerful wins in politics.

If you have money, you can simply get away with anything.

If you're in position, you have the luxury of commanding anyone towards what you want.

If you have connections, you don't have to go through difficult times in processing documents.

If you have all, you are the most powerful.

POWER IS NEVER GOOD IF IT IS TOO MUCH AND IF IT IS USED FOR SELFISH GAINS. Most leaders in the country use power to be rich and get away with anything bad that they do. True enough, the Philippines is the most corrupt country in Asia. with hundreds of government officials doing under the table agreements, I cannot imagine how we can survive in the future.

IF THERE IS SOMETHING TO BE FEARED, IT IS HAVING TOO MUCH POWER. It's sad that those in office fail to wake up from their luxurious sleep over pillows of money and power.

Arroyo vs. Erap

An economist or an actor?

Who is the preferred one?

Former president Joseph Estrada has been ousted due to cases of graft and corruption. He has paid for his sins by being imprisoned for years although he is now set free. Being surrounded by people who wanted nothing but money, he sure was tempted and broke his promise of saving the poor. But, even if he was removed from office, the country still suffers from a more corrupt individual - Pres. Arroyo.

Being intelligent, knowledgeable about the position, and rational, the people thought that at long last, there's someone who can be trusted with their interests. But, as we all know it, many cases have been related to the president. The Hello Garci scandal, the ZTE, the new NAIA issue, the extra-judicial killings and others - these seem to just be forgotten instantly. Unlike Erap, Pres. Arroyo was lucky to have many connections inside. she managed to escape all the controversies through scape-goating. Until now, not a single issue has been resolved.

I can't wait for 2010 to wake up one morning, seated on a desk and ticking the box of the new president of the Philippines. I wish to not have another Arroyo, Erap, or Marcos as a leader. Til then, I'll be pushing for democracy and saying no to CON-ASS.

Charter Change

Every year, especially when elections is nearing, we always hear of PEOPLE blabbing about changing the constitution. I'm very sick of it now. Those who are in favor of it always think that it would be the answer to the problems of the country. On the other hand, those against it believe that it is just a decoy. The changing of the constitution would make Pres. Arroyo buy more time and be the prime minister. After so many years now having the highest position in the country, she still isn't satisfied?

What the country need is not change in laws, it is change in people. The beliefs and practices altogether of our leaders should be altered as soon as possible. They are the ones who are destroying the very foundation of the constitution. Implementation is also a key area to investigate in. No matter how well-written the laws are, if they are not executed properly, it will all be useless.

The system of government, whether presidential or parliamentary, is not the issue here. No one can tell what best suits the country unless tested right? How well do the officials pushing for Cha-Cha know it will work if in the first place, presidency didn't work? It will just be a cycle of embarrassment and disappointment. We cannot just always change something imprinted in society at once because it has stayed for quite decades now. We should first fix what we have and not make it worst through risky moves.

Democracy

Demos or people means us citizens. Democracy means being free and having justice. This concept has been in the country for several years now but how do we make use of it? We've been democratic since the time of the Americans. They taught us to be a country that is free, fair and just. But what has happened now? Isn't it we have elections regularly and we have the chance of voting for the officials? But, why is that we still don't succeed in the political aspect?

The answer is quite simple. Although not everyone is aware of it. You see, democracy was brought here by the Americans and just injected the beliefs and concepts that commanded the idea. The problem is, we have political foundations before they even came. And from this comes the difficulty of adapting to a new set of principles. The country is very much alien to the core values of democracy, that is why up to now, it is still in the process of making it work.

How long do we need to wait before it actually works? That I ask with all the other people who wonder everyday.

If our culture changed, will democracy come by?

But this is impossible right? Because apparently, Culture is everything.

Elections

In less than a year, election time will be knocking on our doors once again. After so much controversies in the 2004 elections, I hope to have a better one next year. Our options for presidency are still vague at present since there's not yet a list of candidates. But, even if that's the case, I have been eyeing for someone already. I wouldn't reveal it but of course he is from the opposition side. Even if I was not yet a voter, I always went for candidates in the opposition. This proves that I hated all our presidents. I mean from Ramos only.

For the 2009 elections, I wish it to push through and have the CON-ASS be out of the picture. We need a strong president, not filled with beautiful platforms but with love and passion for the country. Having a good president is what this country needs most. With the current situation, I have feared Arroyo not giving us this chance. Please hear our hearts out.

The heart of democracy after all is elections. Without it, the country can never be democratic. And being a free country, we deserve to be ruled by someone who has our interest and protect it until the end. I'll never grow tired wishing for someone like Ninoy Aquino who may not have been our president at all but united millions of Filipinos in just a snap

Traditional Politics

Dating back to the time when the Philippines is not yet a democratic country, the government officials then are quite similar to today’s. Traditional politics (trapo) seems to govern society having the destructive values of reciprocity, pakikisama, political dynasties, and the like. These orientations have brought upon Filipino values which had negative effects in political discourse. For instance, in many provinces and municipalities, you can witness one family running their government. Appointments of friends and relatives into office are also a trend, familiarly known as nepotism. In this situation, the importance of reciprocity comes into play. You can imagine senators expecting something in return in the midst of need or for greater gains.

Seeing these kinds of officials before and now, you may conclude that the Philippines has not changed at all. With these leaders, how can we ever thrive? The question begs many other curiosities but we think we have no choice but to bear with it. This thinking of having no choice should alarm us as citizens of this country. If for decades now, we have the same type of officials, maybe we haven’t changed at all. We should start with ourselves and not only acknowledge that there’s something wrong in our so-called “politics” but more importantly, learn how to ACT and RESPOND. So that, in the end, we won’t say we have traditional politics playing in modern times.

Things at its best

The last but not the least thing that you can do is to be with your friends and bond with them.

That's our last and bestest thing to do when raining.

7. Get cozy with your friends and bond with them

It is not all the time that your friends would be there whenever you want them to. Probably if they're in college, you wouldn't have the same schedule with them and of course your group or barkada doesn't go to the same school. So then the only time you guys can spend together is during this season. Why? Because whenever there's a rain, classes get suspended. That means, you can go home and do the things you have to do, and/or spend it with your friends :) Be sure though that they wouldn't get wet.. If you're rich, pick them up where they are. Go watch DVD series together, bake, cook, or simply do catch up talks.

Or okay, since our technology is well and good, then probably you can go skype with them.

Friends are love. They are all worth keeping.

Radio Rodeo

If in the previous post it is advised that one watches the television, specifically teleserye, in Filipino radio stations, there is also a radio-serye (??). As said, it is a radio serye where stories are being told over... the radio. One is able to use his/her imagination of how the story is going, since it's onlly the voice that can be heard. Or if you're not a fan of listening to radio series, then you can switch it to FM radio where you'd hear lovenotes, DJs talking and/or advertising things, etc.

This is the 2nd to the last best things to do when raining.

6. Listen to the radio

Check out the History of Radio:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_radio

The pre-history and early history of radio is the history of technology that produced radio instruments that use radio waves. Within the timeline of radio, many people contributed theory and inventions in what became radio. Radio development began as "wireless telegraphy". Later radio history increasingly involves matters of programming and content.

Lists of Radio inventors:

  • Jagadish Chandra Bose
  • Guglielmo Marconi, who equipped ships with life-saving wireless communications, conducted a reported transatlantic radio communications experiments in 1901 and established the first commercial transatlantic radio service in 1907.
  • Alexander Stepanovic Popov
  • Nikola Tesla, who developed means to reliably produce radio frequency currents, publicly demonstrated the principles of radio, and transmitted long distance signals. In 1943 the US Supreme Court upheld Tesla's patent number U.S. Patent 645,576.

The reason it is not obvious who invented radio is that the technology is a product of many different discoveries and developments.

A teleserye a day keeps the doctor away

Here in the Philippines, there are a lot of teleserye shown everyday. They have their own time slot in the 2 competing channels - ABS-CBN and GMA7 - here in the Philippines. Sometimes they produce it, sometimes they do not. But I find the teleserye produced and directed by Filipinos more interesting than that of Koreanovelas or some Spanish dubbed to Filipino language - which is aired usually in the afternoon.

This is the next best thing to do when raining:

5. Watch Filipino teleserye

Right now, the most relaxing and cozy way to "celebrate" the rain is by watching Tayong Dalawa in Channel 2 - ABS-CBN.

Synopsis from Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tayong_Dalawa

David "JR" Garcia, Jr. was born into a poor family. His father, David Garcia Sr., deserted his mother before he was born because his wife, Ingrid Garcia was pregnant with David "Dave" Garcia, Jr. When Audrey King and her family went to Tagaytay for a visit, she fell from a set of high stairs. If David "JR" Garcia Jr. was not there she probably would have died. When he gets help, she asks for his name. He tells her that he is David Garcia, Jr. When she gets to the hospital and is asked by the witnesses and her family who saved her, she says it's David Garcia, Jr. but David "Dave" Garcia, Jr. is the one who is credited. She did not realize that he is a different boy. As she grows up falling in love with Dave, Dave meets his brother and soon best friend, JR. Their families did not approve of the friendship. Dave's family thought that JR just wanted to use Dave for his money. Dave & JR's mother's would not let the two hang out. But their father allowed the friendship to continue, because there was something about JR that David Sr. liked, but he didn't know what it was. Dave's grandmother, Elizabeth, suspects and so does JR's mother, Marlene, but nothing stops these two from becoming best friends. When everyone found out that Dave & JR are twin siblings, the family rivalry became worse. Elizabeth, Dave's grandmother did everything to make sure that the news about the siblings did not come out. She lied and schemed, for Marlene, JR's mother, to go to jail. Audrey's father then sends her to Cebu to study there, but not before she meets JR. He feels like he has seen her before, but does not realize who she is. When Dave and JR were sent to the Philippine Military Academy, they started to get competitive with each other, in academics, and for their true love. When they finally got into battle, will brotherhood save them both, or will envy leave them both to die? Audrey has grown up in love with the wrong person, but when she realizes who her true savior is, will she be able to return her love?

Jacket or Blanket?

In this rainy season, one wouldn't get to live a day without a jacket, or a blanket. It is cold anywhere you go. So obviously you would need to have one.

Our fourth agenda:

4. Find yourself a cozy blanky or jackety

There are different types of jacket. Hoodie, windbreaker, raincoat, cloaks, coat, etc. On the other hand, there are also different types of blankets. Comforter, franela blanket as they say it in Filipino, etc. During this rainy season, be sure to have a blanket and/or jacket with you. It's the 21st century and jackets do have creative and lovely design. It is also easy to get one, since there are a lot of sellers in the social networking websites.

Sauna

When the whether is in it's hottest, having a cold bath is but the best thing to do. So then when the whether is cold, what's the best thing to do? Take a bath with hot warm water, then if it's possible, enjoy yourself in a Sauna.

Sauna is a small room or house designed as a place to experience dry or wet heat sessions, or an establishment with one or more of these and auxiliary facilities. Sauna is also used figuratively to describe an unusually hot or humid environment.

Saunas can be divided into two basic styles: Conventional saunas that warm the air or infrared sauna that warm objects. Infrared saunas may use various materials in their heating area such as charcoal, active carbon fibers, and other materials.

Third relaxing thing

3. Take a warm bath then go to the Sauna

Eat eat eat

In the Philippines, when its rainy season, we have their own type of food. If in other countries, they have soups or coffee, we have our very own chaporado, goto, arozcaldo, and lugaw. It is made up of rice joint with sticky rice.

That's the second thing you can do.

2. Eat something hot, eat champorado

In other countries, they call champorado, porridge. Basically it is made out of rice and sticky rice. In our country, it is usually joint with tuyo - a type of fish which was put under the sun. It has a salty taste that greatly compliments the taste that of the champorado. As old folks will go, nag-aagaw ang tamis at alat.

Top 7 things to do when raining

Photo from

This week, I will be talking about the top 7 things to do when raining :) These 7 things would not be safety measures or anything, but relaxing things.

Let's start then.

1. Sleep happily

When you're sleeping then wake-up raining, continue your sleep. Care less about your schedule and go back to dream land! Here in the Philippines it is very hot, waking-up raining do not happen all the time. So then you need to embrace it. Or fine okay, if you're studious and don't want to miss a class or meeting, go wake yourself up. But! Go out of bed slowly so there would be remnants of the cozy and cold pillows, blanket, more pillows and blankets.

Haha, it's funny how this blog goes, influencing in a bad way those people who experience it.
But then again, all these cannot be done all the time. Maybe during rainy weekends when you can relax all you want.

But then again and again! Why don't you try it at least once? :) When you wake up raining, don't go out of bed right away, cherish the given moment.

Tom and Jerry

Tom and Jerry has been in the cartoon industry for decades or even more. It is one of the first few cartoons produced by Warner Brothers. It is about the cat and a mouse, and obviously the cat chases the mouse. Yet Jerry - mouse - being the smart one, always get to screw Tom's - cat - life. It is very funny how Jerry would invert the way their setup is. Yes he would allow Tom to chase him but make Tom be the one to end up crying or restless.

They are sooooo cute.

As said by wikipedia:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tom_and_Jerry
Tom rarely succeeds in catching Jerry, mainly because of Jerry's cleverness, cunning abilities, and luck. Interestingly enough, many of the title cards show Tom and Jerry smiling at each other which seems to depict a love-hate relationship rather than the extreme annoyance each displays towards the other in each cartoon. There are also several instances within the cartoons where they display genuine friendship ("Springtime for Thomas") and concern for each other's well-being (such as in "Jerry and the Lion" where Jerry in one instance tricks Tom into thinking he has shot Jerry, and Tom comes running with the first aid kit).

Phineas and Ferb

This is not another Nickelodeon cartoon but a Disney cartoon :) It is one of the new cartoon line-up mid 2007 in Disney channel.

Basically, it is about Phineas and Ferb - two stepbrothers.

Their imagination creates large, almost impossible plans and inventions that often embroil their snoopy sister. The series follows a standardized plot system; running gags occur every episode, and the B-plot always consists of the boys' pet platypus acting as a secret agent to fight an evil "Druelselsteinien" scientist named Heinz Doofenshmirtz.

The series main characters live in a blended family, based on co-creator Jeff "Swampy" Marsh's childhood environment; both he and Povenmire believe that such families are underused on television. They selected a platypus to be the boys ' pet for its odd appearance and media underexposure.

Dory the Explory

Dora Chikkadora as one channel in the Philippines spoof it, is yet another Nickelodeon Jr. cartoon. It's target audience is basically kids. In every episode, the cartoon converse with the kids - or who anyone that's watching - to help Dora and Diego - her friend - to find stuff and solve problems. Problems such as, what to use in saving the cat from the tree, where to pass in crossing the river, things like that.

It also has a very good jingle that sticks to anyone who hears it [as I have observed it]. A very educational cartoon I must say. This cartoon helps children to learn the basics before going to school, or for those who go to school already - from toddler up - practice them and give entertainment.

With all the cartoons that was mentioned in previous blogs, I believe that this bests fit children most especially toddlers. It is not like any other cartoons that show violence.

Fairly Fairy

Fairly Odd Parents is one of Nickelodeon's chartoon series.

Timmy who lives with his parents, and is being baby sited by his evil Nany-Vicky, lovingly has fairy god parents - Cosmo and Wanda. The two fairies love their god child Timmy and gives everything he wishes. May it be a simple or extravagant one. However, there are some instances where they cannot stop Timmy from wishing which sometimes result to a very undesirable outcome.

Vicky is one of the two villains in the series. As told earlier, she looks after Timmy every time his parents are away for work. It is otherwise to what she says she is doing to Timmy when Timmy's parents are around. She asks Timmy to do the things she has to do, etc. But then again, since Timmy has a wonderful fairy god parents, he wishes for things that will make Icky Vicky go away. Sometimes he wishes for Vicky's crush to come look for her so she'd go away from him, mess her clothes or roome, anything that you can think of that could make her leave and only go back few minutes before his parents come back.

Another villain in the series is his professor who gives him an F in a regular basis. He's a mad scientists that searches for unusual creatures such most especially fairies. This is also the reason why he gives Timmy a grade of F all the time. His hunches are always right, he feels it when Timmy is around - because Cosmo and Wanda never left him alone. They would go to where Timmy will go, pretending to be inanimate objects.

Without a doubt, this chartoon will surely make your day. It is full of surprises and thrillingly cute events. Try watching it in Nickelodeon, and you wouldn't say NO in watching it again.

Scientificational Boyyy

Let's test your knowledge in cartoons.

Who is the cartoon character that has its own science lab?

--Tada! Jimmy Neutron.

Jimmy Neutron is one of Nick's cartoon series wherein the main character, Jimmy.
This cartoon series was created by first entitled as Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius, then renamed to The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius. It is obviously an American animated series which was officially aired September 6, 2002. It was also the very first computer-animated Nicktoon.

The interesting cartoon series is about a genius child, an inventor as well, named - again - Jimmy Neutron who lives in Retroville. The character's main phrases are Gotta Blast, Brain Blast or any simple phrase that would say that he has something in his brain.

Jimmy has a wonderful family and friends. He goes to regular school everyday with two of his best friends. Together they solve mysteries then fails at the start. This is when the climax go after, when he get to think right then and there, making what he thought of the solution to their problem. Moreover, since he is smart enough with inventing things and being that of a scientist, he made his own pet, the metal dog. His pet accompanies him and his friends in if not all, most of his mysteries that needs to be solved.

Being and wanting to be a scientist is great. I believe that this type of cartoon series could make a child's thinking to try being a scientist when he/she grows up.

Totally

If you are living with a kid most especially when it's a girl, then probably she regularly watches Totally Spice.

Totally Spice is a cartoon in Disney Channel that is somewhat a mystery solving problem cartoon. There are 3 main characters - Alex, Sam and Clover - that together solves or saves the day. They are under the Whoop agent and leaded by Jerry their boss.

These three girls are very flexible, well they must be. In any time of the day, if there is a problem to be solved or a case that they need to attend to, Jerry will always find a way to get them to Whoop headquarters.

What makes this cartoon interesting is the different gadgets Jerry gives them. Indeed all of the gadgets are interesting and is very useful. One gadget I remember is the lipstic. Basically, it looks like a lipstic but has several functions:

1. It can be a laser to cut walls
2. When thrown with force, it can explode
3. It can be a lipstic

Another gadget I can remember is their bag. It's uses are:

1. Basically where they put their gadgets
2. Is fashion friendly and matches their clothes
3. It serves as their parachute when they fall

Interesting, isn't? :)

I have a secret though, in one of the episodes, it was explained and told that these three spice are made by Jerry and not really human beings. Well yeah they all function as a human being but Jerry was the one who gave life to them.

A Pineapple House

When you read the title of this entry? What came into your mind first? Anyhow, this week's topic are the different cartoons. For our first stop: Spongebob Square Pants!

Everybody loves Spongebob. Spongebob lives in a pineapple under the sea! He's cute, cuddly, has a lot of green pores, and a sponge. Oh plus he knows how to cook well the Krabby Patty! In bikini bottom, he is known for this profession and for jelly fishing. During is day-off, he always go to the jelly fish field and catches jelly fish for fun. He can also do different sorts of bubble with his bubble blower thing. He has a pet named Gary, a snail that he loves most. If you won't see him in the jellyfish fields during his time off, then he is probably with his best friend Patrick.

Patrick is a starfish. He is pink with no shirt on. He is the dumbest pink star that you could ever find, but funny. He loves Spongeboob so much that he does almost everything he want with him.

Although this cartoon is fun to watch, it is recommended that children watching it must be accompanied by adults. Yes it is nothing compared to undesireable Anime war cartoons, but then again, some episodes have languages not suitable for young audiences. However, if your children cannot be influenced easily, then it would be okay if you leave them alone watching Spongebob.

Teen pop Canadian Robin

Robin Scherbatsky is the other girl of them 5. She is a former teen pop star in Canada, and a news anchor in Channel 12: a channel where any shit you want to say is allowable since nobody watches any news of it. Since as said in the previous posts, Ted became his boyfriend in the end of a season. She had been his love interest the moment they've met. Ted wanted him so bad, that he did everything for her. When she says she wants that, Ted gets it for her. That is why Ted is being chased by a restaurant because when Robin told him that she wanted a blue french horn - and the restaurant where they were eating had it - without hesitation he got it. But then Robin has a phobia on committments. Or I may say, she doesn't want to be committed anytime soon when Ted was courting her. So what she'd do is tell him every single time that she is not interested.

However, there was a time when she started to tell Lily things about Ted. What makes her jealous of the chics surrounding Ted. After which, Lily and Robin realized that Robin had something for Ted, she just can't admit it to herself.

Ted being captured by Robin's heart, despite of all the chics he has, turned them all down and turned to Robin. Then their story starts there.. Yet in every relationship, there is a bitter end. Since they felt they had to separate and do things their own way, they've decided to cool it down and end it. Robin went to different countries, while Ted, just as Marshall, mourned like there's no tomorrow - but Marshall's mourning is worse than that of Ted's!

When Robin came back, of course Ted is expecting for them to get back together as well. But no, Robin is with another man.. Now it's for you to find out what will happen next.

Go watch How I Met Your Mother, it will surely complete one of your boring and lifeless day!

Lily Aldrin Lilypad

One of the 2 female character in this sitcom is Lily Aldrin. She is Marshall Erkisen - as mentioned in the previous post - girlfriend/fiance, and on the latter part, wife.

Lily is also called as Lilypad by Marshall. It is their petname for each other since they were officially together. Lily's character in the sitcom is somewhat a lovely, sweet, cute, and kindergarten teacher.

Since she had been with Marshall since college, it is uncomfortable to see when they're not together or if they seriously fight. Sadly, there were some episodes where they broke up. It was almost their wedding that time when they decided to break-up. Everything was set and done, ready to go. Yet they both realized that they didn't want to do it. So then they separated ways for a while. While Lily is enjoying and re-discovering herself through her dream of being an artist, Marshall kept mourning like as if there's no tomorrow.

Being a good friend to both parties, Barney went to Lily and gave her a ticket back to where she left Marshall. When she got back, Marshall was almost done moving on and living his life without her. But then again, after quite some time, they got back together and finally have continued with their wedding.

Marshall Eriksen the Lawyer

Despite his crazy but lovely friends, bringing him to the bar most of the time, that did not hinder him from being a lawyer.

Marshall Eriksen is one of the five main characters in How I Met Your Mother. He is Ted Mosby's best friend, as mentioned in the previous post, from college. They were room mates then, together faced college. Went to different places with his car - a hand-me-down form his giant brothers - and it was always to Ted that he tell his dirty little sweet secrets regarding Lily, his one and only love.

In one of the episodes, where Marshall and Lily decided to go to Marshall's place, Lily was so surprised how big - literally. All of them is around 6 foot tall above - their family was. Even the servings of food are big. Plus, Lily cannot take how the Eriksen family make their salad. There is no layer where mayonaise is invisible. What a healthy living, right? But nobody can stop their family. It had been their tradition and nobody can ever break it. They also have a very nice brotherhood. To make it more interesting, their family have made their own game! It is an outdoor exciting game which they love and only play when they are complete.

Marshall is a very very kind friend. But when it comes to the Slap Bet that he and Barney has, no slap could be missed. It is the bet of whether or not Robin - another character - was a porn star in her country, Canada. So since it was otherwise, Barney betting that she is a porn star and Marshall on the opposite, Marshall won. What they have talked about was 5 slaps of different unexpected days. Now everytime Marshall feels like slapping Barney, he'd greatly accomodate the feeling and won't have second thoughts about it.

Theodore "Ted" Evelyn Mosby

Ted Mosby is Marshall Eriksen's best friend from college. They've been together through thick and thin, was never separated since then.

Ted is the central character of the show, a professed romantic who is eager to get married and settle down. After his best friend Marshall Eriksen becomes engaged, Ted decides to try and find his soulmate.

Being the wingman - meaning the forever buddy in girl searching - of Barney, he gets the benefit of having a lot of girls in the bar (McLarens). However, knowing how Ted is, wanting to find his soulmate, he usually don't mind those. Barney on the other side never fail to convince him to meet and hook-up with girls. He says that Architects are hot. At first Ted didn't want to believe Barney, yet as he watches Barney to talk to girls and say that he's an architect, then he was convinced.

Ted is a very steady character. With his effortless lines, he is able to make people laugh. He also has a nice voice.

The goodness of this TV series is that, even if it is Ted who's the main character, the episodes never revolved only at him.

The legendary Barney

Many will agree that Barney Stinson's character is indeed one of the best and very interesting. He's a womanizer, offers many strategies to help Ted - his best friend - meet a woman.

Likes to create crazy situations and then sit back and watch it all go down. That's how Harris - the original Barney in real life - see the character. Most of the time, Barney wears his suit and rarely does he go for casual wear. He goes to their every loved bar MacLarens just few blocks away from Ted and Marshall's apartment. There he does his everyday living which is to spot for girls, dragging is wingman, Ted. Yet on the other hand, some says that he is a pretty fragile character who's really afraid of being alone. He just wants people to like him, to be important to people, and to have disciples who follow his word -Craig Thomas

What Craig Thomas said can be supported by how Barney started to suit up. Before, he use to be a musician in a restaurant where the daughter of the owner is his girlfriend. Yet the unexpected time came that Barney has to go to a place and left Shanon - his first girlfriend - behind. But the moment he realized that he didn't want to leave her, he saw her kissing a SUITED guy. Since then, he said to himself that never will he go for casual wear again.

Barney have popularized different tag lines too!

1. What uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuup?!
2. You know legend - wait for it - dairy!
3. Aaaaaaaaawesome

Two Mosbys

In the opening of almost every episode - as told in the previous post - Ted narrates how he met their - his daughter and son - mother.

They sit in a sofa listening to their father. It's funny how their faces evolved. In season 1, they looked like listening attentively. Yet as the it gets old and as they get used to hear. This is some excerpt from it's pilot episode:

Narrator: Kids, I’m going to tell you an incredible story. The story of how I met your mother

Son: Are we being punished for something?

Narrator: No

Daughter: Yeah, is this going to take a while?

Narrator: Yes. (Kids are annoyed) Twenty-five years ago, before I was dad, I had this whole other life.

Isn't it so evident how his son respond? Haha
There is a lot of this in the following episode. You better wait and watch out for it :)

See how this TV series created their character.
Aaaaawesome!

How I Met Your Mother

How I Met Your Mother is a tv series played in selected tv stations in cable. It is a comedy series which is composed of indeed, very interesting characters. There are 5 main characters and 2 sub characters namely: Barney Stinson, Ted Mosby, Marshall Erikson, Robin Scherbatsky, Lily Aldrin-Erikson, and Ted's son and daughter - where most of the series start.

In the start of the series, Ted who narrates it, tell his children on how he and their mother met. So then he somewhat retell the stories [basically]. Honestly, some of the episodes are boring, and some are whitingly awesome.

There are several match-ups in How I Met Your Mother. Marshall and Lily who eversince the start of the season had been a couple, Robin and Ted which in soon had been a couple, and Barney who's forever single and [again] forever finds a chic for himself.

What makes it interesting is how the characters were made. They all are unique. Well honestly, not all of the episodes are funny. Some are QUITE serious - 'coz there was never an episode which is serious-serious - some are interesting and relaxingly funny.

They also have their mark to people with their incredibly good lines:

1. You know legend - wait for it - dairy. -Barney Stinson
2. Aaaaaawesome -Almost everyone says it

So then I recommend, that you try watching this. Most especially when you want to relax. It is also nice to watch it with a friend :)

Batu Caves, Malaysia

Next stop: Batu Caves

This is another place where one couldn't miss in this country, Batu Caves. It is a cave, where most of Malaysia's population go for worship. If I'm not mistaken, this place is a Hindu shrine outside India, where they hail/worship their Lord Murugan.

The gold statue in the picture is their Lord Murugan or Murukan; and is popular to Hindu deity among Tamil Hindus. Primarily those areas with Tamil influences [South India, Sri Lanka, Malaysia - where the picture was taken - and Mauritus] worships him.

Lord Murugan is very popular in South India compared to other parts of India. As told by many, he is the God of war. Just as Hindu deitis, a lot of names are associated to him such as: Senthil, Sarvana, Karttikeya - which means son of Krittika - Arumugam or Sanmuga, etc.

This part of Malaysia is awesomely interesting, most especially when you love to go to historical places. What makes it intersting is that, before you get to the top and see the approximated 400 million years old limestone, you would have to take around 150-200 steps. Moreover, while you walk up, monkeys are everywhere, going up and down as well. At the end - top - of the walk, you would see another statue of Lord Murugan. As you walk in, a beautiful peek from the sky surrounded with the outline of the mountain you are into.

Old Hindus also bring their child there, probably for baptism.

[Old] Kuala Lumpur Post Office, Malaysia

Next stop: Old Post Office

There are different post offices in different countries, obviously. Yet by far, this is the best post-office I have ever seen. Usually, when I hear such word, I think of crappy old place located in the heart of some unknown vicinity. Covered with dirt and stickers all over its walls, walk ways full of unwanted papers. Filthy place as I can say.

Most especially when the place gets old and be replaced by a new one. Before having stepped at this place, my thinking was that, since it is an old post office, probably everyone have abandoned it. A picture of a dirtier place invaded my thinking, actually.

But then again, my thinking failed me. It was a nice and indeed historical place. It is somewhere tourists can take pictures of.

Honestly, I wasn't able to say a word but AWESOME. When I stood before it, I felt the lucky-ness and blessing of God, for He allowed me to go to such good place. It is way way different from what I have thought of.

KFC, Malaysia

Next stop: KFC!

Are you hungry, and craving for K-F-C??

KFC is a worldwide fastfood chain. You can see it almost everywhere! It serves [as the commercial goes] the most awesome and Finger-likin' Good! Yet in other countries, you must expect something different - at least one - in these type of foodchains.

1. If in my country, they serve french fries which looks like potatos cut into strips, in Malaysia, they serve potato wedges instead.
2. If in other countries they have yummy gravies, in Malaysia, they don't have a pleasing one.
3. ..., they serve rice, in Malaysia, they do not.
4. ..., they have banana catsup [basically] for catsup sauce, in Malaysia, they have hot sauce.
etc.

Despite the differences, both good and bad, still their ever famous Zinger Meal is the best! Hmm, Zinger Meal here in my country is okay, no fine.. good, but having it with Potato Wedges won my heart. You must try this when you step foot to Malaysia.

Genting Highlands, Malaysia

Next stop: Genting Highlands

If here in the Philippines, we have our Tagaytay, in Malaysia, they have their Genting Highlands! Well the only thing that they have in common is the climate and its location. Both places have a very cold climate, and is on top of a mountain.

Genting Highlands has a lot of things to show and give to customers. They have good hotels to stay, casinos for adults, an Enchanted Kingdom of their own [an indoor and outdoor], and ---tada! CABLE CAR!

Everybody would enjoy riding the cable car, transfering you upon the entrance to sort of the Genting proper where you would get a room. Although having a hotel room is not necessary, since anyone can come to visit the whole entire day. If you plan to visit there, be sure to bring jackets, because there is no hot place there! Even in the non-airconditioned room with just a ceiling fan on will freeze your body to death! (Okay I'm exaggerating)

Some say that your visit in Malaysia wouldn't be complete if you don't get to see this gorgeouse cozy place :) - Genting Highlands

Titiwangsa, Malaysia

Next stop: Titiwangsa, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Titiwangsa is a recreational park where people usually hang-out in weekends. It has a lot of "divisions" where you can stay. There's this gymnasium, open field, a good scenery, an area where one can perform, but the most attractive spot I may say, is where Remote Control cars are being played. Anyone can play in this open field; they can simply bring their RCs then roll it (!). You might be think that those RCs are simply the ones bought for little boys - for their birthdays, christmas, and other special occassion - with double A battery. No, it is not. Most of the time, these RCs has somewhat fuel - as they say - to "move" and work. Oh however, there are battery operated as well, but the batteries used are the biggest ones.

From a far, these cars look tiny, like as if it is just the normal remote control car. But when you come near to it, its length is around 2.5 12 inch ruler.

Interesting isn't? There are more reasons which makes it interesting, even the way you open it's engine and put the fuel is... interesting. You don't simply turn it one with some button - just as the normal RC car goes - but it has this string that you need to pull until the engine starts screaming. And the excitement does not end there, they set it up, buy different parts for it, put different stickers they want all over it, get the best tires, best oils/fluid, etc.

I'm just not sure though, if they hold competitions for this.*

As you see, these are toys for big boys. The ones playing this are mostly fathers, yuppies, etc. in their free day - which is often Sunday. They do not compete, they play it for fun. :)

Let's explore Malaysia

There are a lot of countries to go to in Asia; one of which is Malaysia.

Malaysia is predominantly a Muslim country. It's population is composed of Indians and Chinese. It's capital city is Kuala Lumpur where the famous Petronas Tower lies. A shopping mall composed of different brands is situated between the two towers. These towers are one of the assets of Malaysia, a tourist attraction. As you see in the picture, there is a bridge connecting both of the towers which is called Skybridge. This is an overlooking place where you would be able to see almost the whole of Kuala Lumpur. Unbelieveably, going to the said place is for free. Yet here's the catch; it's only open Tuesday to Saturday, since a lot of people wants to come and see the place, you need to be there as early as 6 or 7 am just so to get a ticket for the entrance. By 10am, all tickets are taken, and saddly, to those came by then would have to go back the following day or whenever.

Petronas Towers, going back, holds offices of different Malaysian, multi-national, or simply companies in their country. It is perfectly beautiful in day time, along with pretty fountains that lies behind it, but amazingly gorgeous at night. The lights are done in a very awesome way.

Malaysia is simply one of the best countries in Asia.

It has exciting places to see,
good governance,
and
Petronas Towers :)
